Having trouble with a website in Internet Explorer (IE) ?  There are a few easy ways to troubleshoot it!

(Note: these screenshots are for IE11, but if you're running another version, they should be pretty similar).

A) Try with Internet Explorer's Compatibility Mode

The website's developers may not be keeping compatible with current web browsers.  Fortunately IE has a compatibility mode to let it act like the old versions.

Here's how to use it:

  1. Open the page that's having problems.

  2. Click Internet Explorer's Tools menu (gear icon), and chose "Compatibility View Settings"
  3. In the Dialog, click the Add button, and then Close.

  4. Close Internet Explorer, and reopen it to the problem page.

B) Try resetting Internet Explorer.
Your browser may have had settings changed which break features expected by that website.  Or the website might have set corrupted cookies which it can't read back.

Here's how to do this:

  1. Click Internet Explorer's Tools menu (gear icon), and chose "Internet Options"

    The Internet Options Dialog opens.

  2. Click the Advanced tab.

  3. Click the Reset... button

    A confirmation dialog opens.

  4. Click the Reset button.

    The Results window appears.

  5. Click the Close button.

  6. Close Internet Explorer, and reopen it to the problem page.

  7. If this doesn't work, try a COMPLETE reset.  Just repeat the above steps but check "Delete personal settings" on step 4.
